At the start historical epoch, around about the IX cent. B.C., it began to spread a phenomenon of deep transformation of the habitation of the Etruria. The population began slowly to abandon the internal habitation sites in favour of the spacious plains at the tufacee base situated next to the coastal front. This choice seems to be determinate by the need to have a direct contact with the sea, the main means of transport for communication and exchanges. The need determined also by the fact that Etruria, in the ancient world occupied the most privileged place, for resources of the precious metal ore present on its territory.
