The Antiquarium of Pyrgi

Adjacent to the area of the excavations of Pyrgi there is a small and particular Antiquarium, opened in 1972. You approach the site by the car park, to the left of the road of Santa Severa castle.

In the entrance road there are placed marble inscriptions and other materials of the Roman age that comes from Pyrgi and from the important site Aquae Caeretane in the locality of Pian della Carlotta

 Inside the Antiquarium The Antiquarium collects much material, which comes from the excavations of the Etruscan sanctuary, began by Professor Massimo Pallottino : architectonic terracotta belonging to the decoration of temples A and B, votive objects and domestic crockery, illustrating the structure of the temples, the cult practised, the traders gravitate on the port. Plastic reconstruction, graphic supports and photographs introduce vary relative aspects to the topography and the life of the sanctuary. Also of particular interest the delicate glass to the pre historic material found in the highlands of the temples, to the ceramics of Roman Pyrgi and of the medieval castle.

Inside, the left half of the large room covered by a roof truss held by brick columns, it is dedicated to the introductory part, to the habitat of Pyrgi, to the sanctuary in general, to the temple B e all' sacred area C; the right half, to the tempio A, to the recent phases of the sanctuary, to the necropolis, to the Roman Pyrgi and the territory.
